Elon Musk pauses Twitter buyout
According to Reuters, Elon Musk has chosen to temporarily halt his purchase of Twitter in order to assess the number of fake accounts on the social media platform.
Musk wants to make sure that the number of "fake users" that populate Twitter is equivalent to what the firm maintains, which is roughly 5% of the overall users of the social media platform. The operation is on hold till then.
The stream of news about Twitter has been incessant since Elon Musk became interested in it, and it doesn't appear that it will stop anytime soon, even though few predicted a semi-turn of events like this, and no one knows how it will end.
" The agreement with Twitter is temporarily suspended pending details that support the calculation that fake/spam accounts represent less than 5% of users," Musk said through his Twitter account.
The case is strange in that one of the South African's plans for the platform's future was to get rid of the millions of bots and false accounts that exist on Twitter.
For example, it is estimated that more than half of Musk's more than 90 million followers are fake, which is normal among accounts with such large numbers.
Of course, the positive manner in which Elon Musk has disseminated the news is also intriguing, given his reputation for being a harsh critic. Perhaps it's because, as part of the Twitter purchase agreement, the world's richest man undertakes not to disparage the firm until it's certified.
Elon Musk completed a $44,000 million acquisition agreement for Twitter at the end of April, among other things, with the goal of restoring some of the social network's lost respect for freedom of expression.
Recall, former porn star Lisa Ann (49) advises Elon Musk to ban the posting of explicit content on Twitter.
In her podcast ‘Dudes Do Better’, she criticized the policy of the popular platform, claiming that “minors easily reach sensitive content”.
