A trailer for "Top Gun: Maverick", an American action drama directed by Joseph Kosinski and written by Ehren Kruger, Eric Warren Singer, and Christopher McQuarrie, has been released. It is a sequel to the cult film "Top Gun" from 1986.
The film stars Tom Cruise, Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, John Hamm, Glen Powell, Louis Pullman, Ed Harris, and Val Kilmer. Cruz and Kilmer repeat their roles from the first film.
Captain Pete "Maverick" Mitchell (Tom Cruise) has been called in to train Top Gun graduates for a specialized mission under the command of his colleague and former rival Tom "Iceman" Kazansky, who is now a four-star admiral and served as commander of the Pacific the U.S. Navy fleet.
Among them is Lieutenant Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw, the son of Maverick's late best friend and radar intercept officer, Lieutenant Nick "Goose" Bradshaw.

The film will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on May 18, 2022, before appearing in theaters on May 27. The original was supposed to be released on July 12, 2019, but it was postponed in order to "allow the production to work out all the complex flight sequences". Due to the coronavirus pandemic and schedule disputes, the film experienced further delays.
