George Clooney caught in floods in Italy: "It's worse than you can imagine"

George Clooney and his family were on holiday at their villa on Lake Como in Lombardy when Italy was hit by storms and floods earlier this week. Strong wind, heavy rain, and hail caused significant material damage.

The actor was on vacation with his wife Amal and their twins. The Sun writes that all were unharmed and that their property was not damaged.

"It was a lot worse than you can imagine. I think it could take years and millions spent before everything is restored," Clooney told Italian media. He offered to help the mayor of Laglio, in whose area the actor's villa is located.

"But this city is very resilient. It will be here forever and it will be stronger when everything is restored," added Clooney, who bought a holiday home in Italy in 2002 for $ 14 million.

Otherwise, heavy rains in Italy caused floods and landslides. The president of the Lombardy region, which has been particularly hard hit by the weather, has called for a state of emergency in several provinces, including the cities of Varese, Como, and Lecco.
