A video of a Chinese man who looks like a double of Elon Musk (50) has gone viral on social media, writes the New York Post .

Deepfakes (a portmanteau of "deep learning" and "fake") are synthetic media in which a person in an existing image or video is replaced with someone else's likeness. While the act of faking content is not new, deep-fakes leverage powerful techniques from machine learning and artificial intelligence to manipulate or generate visual and audio content with a high potential to deceive.
Deepfakes have garnered widespread attention for their uses in celebrity pornographic videos, revenge porn, fake news and financial fraud. This has elicited responses from both industry and government to detect and limit their use.
The Chinese are so similar to the leader of Tesla that some of the commentators suspected that it was a 'deep fake' - a digitally modified video in which someone else's face is placed on the existing.
The video was originally posted on the Douyin network, the Chinese version of TikTok, but later reached other social networks, including Facebook. It was filmed in a garage and shows a man dressed in black leaning against a car and talking to a cameraman.
Since its release in early December, the video has been viewed tens of thousands of times. The Chinese are so similar to the leader of Tesla.
Deepfakes’ are becoming more common in apps like TikTok, where there’s a whole account dedicated to the fake Tom Cruise.
In August of this year, viral madness was triggered by a ‘copy’ of Cardi B called Cardi C, and Scarlett Johansson, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Brad Pitt. They also revealed that they have ‘long lost twins’.
