Life story of Drew Barrymore

American actress Drew Barrymore became famous for her role in the film 'ET' when she was only seven years old but she very quickly fell into the hell of addiction.

The actress recently celebrated her 47th birthday, and this summer will be the 40th anniversary of the film’s release. Barrymore revealed that she will celebrate the film’s big anniversary with her daughters, seven-year-old Frankie and nine-year-old Olive, and film director Steven Spielberg. The film was a hit in theaters in 1982 and broke rating records.

Drew Blythe Barrymore was born on February 22, 1975, in Culver City, California to a family of actors. When she was just 11 months old she found herself in a dog food commercial, and when she was seven, her godfather Spielberg gave her a role in his film that launched her into stellar orbit. Numerous roles followed, she met then-US President Ronald Reagan, and she became the youngest host of a television show.

She starred in the 1984 film ‘Firestarter’, and at a party for that film, she bet she could drink two glasses of champagne and so her addiction began.

She continued to get roles and soon went to clubs such as the famous Studio 54. In a photo from that time, she was photographed holding a cigarette in her hand as a nine-year-old. A year and a half later she started smoking weed, and at 12 she was already consuming cocaine.

She had a heated argument with her mother Jaid in 1988 after spending the day doing drugs with friends. She told her to move out, and when Drew found her at home, she went wild and ended up in treatment. She didn't stay there long. She went to New York to audition for the film ‘See You in the Morning’, and after getting a role with a friend she stole her mother’s card, they flew to LA and bought cocaine. They intended to continue shopping in Hawaii but they had a car accident and the actress ended up in a clinic again.

She spent almost a year there, and when she was about to leave, journalists re-wrote about her life. She decided to publish her truth in a book and started using drugs again. In the end, at the age of 15, she decided to change her life and wrote an autobiography, which she published in 1990 and embarked on the process of independence.

She also attracted the attention of the public with her connections. When she was 19, she married bartender Jeremy Thomas, and her second marriage to comedian Tom Green lasted just five months. He was not at all sympathetic to many, and for some he was untalented, and the couple divorced in friendly relations. Namely, they always praised each other even after the divorce and said that they were sorry that they did not succeed. They cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the divorce.

She married Will Kopelman in 2012, and they divorced after four years of marriage. They had two children and remained on good terms after the breakup.
