PRINCE WILLIAM SHOULD HAVE HAD A DIFFERENT NAME: Diana changed her mind
The name of Prince William was supposed to be different, according to the author of the royal biography, Robert Lacey.

The last info concerns Prince William who was supposed to be given a different name, but his mother Diana made the final decision. As has long been known to the public, the marriage of Prince Charles and the Princess has been on shaky ground because he was in love with his current wife Camilla Parker. Diana overheard their phone conversations and reportedly complained about their affair to Queen Elizabeth II.
Despite being in a bad relationship, Charles, when Lady Di was carrying their first child, insisted on the baby being given the name Arthur. One of the authors of the royal biography, Robert Lacey, told People that the princess wanted a less robust name for her son.
But one of the main reasons was allegedly that Charles once told his then-mistress Camilla that he would like to have children with her, as well as that he would name his son Arthur. Diana heard this and under no circumstances wanted that name for her first son.
‘She insisted on the name being William, although she never revealed to him that she knew of his conversation with Camilla,’ Robert pointed out. William's middle name is Philip after his now-deceased grandfather, Prince Philip, and Louis after Lord Louis Mountbatten.
