What happened with Lana Del Rey?

Known for her melancholic songs, singer Lana Del Rey is celebrating her 37th birthday. From the beginning of her career, she remained consistent with her special musical style, but she changed her look beyond recognition.

She rarely appears in public, and last year public was horrified when she came to an event with apparently poorly done Botox. In addition to destroying her appearance with aesthetic procedures, in recent years she has damaged her reputation, thanks to a series of controversial public statements. Many fans even say that they have lost respect for the singer, and in public they are increasingly describing her as problematic.

It all started in 2020 after the Grammy Awards when she published a bizarre statement about her own reputation and vehemently criticized her critics.'Now that Doja Cat, Ariana Grande, Camila Cabello, Cardi B, Kehlani and Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé were in first place with songs about being sexy, not wearing clothes, cheating and so on, can we please return to singing about the beautiful feeling of infatuation, even if the relationship is not perfect, or dancing for money, or whatever I want, without being crucified, ' she wrote. She went on to explain that her past was called out because of her songs, and her colleagues were not.

To this day, it is unclear what prompted her to make this statement and why she felt compelled to defend her music. At the beginning of her career, some considered it controversial, but mostly because of accusations of inauthenticity. Her tragic-glamorous image has been the target of criticism much more often than her texts. While some agreed that she had been unfairly called out as an anti-feminist in the past, many were outraged by her statement because she publicly called out other colleagues to highlight her point.

In addition, six of the seven people she mentioned in her statement were dark-skinned women, so many accused Lana of racism. After unsuccessfully fighting for her reputation in public after this scandal, she found herself at the center of another one. In the midst of a coronavirus pandemic at an event in Los Angeles, she appeared with a mesh face mask that served more as a fashion accessory than protection against disease. She tried to defend herself with the fact that there was plastic under the net, but the public did not believe her justification.

By the way, behind Lana is a difficult life and a difficult upbringing. In an interview with GQ magazine 10 years ago, for which she posed nude, she admitted that her parents sent her when she had 14 years to a boarding school to get rid of her alcohol addiction.' I was a big addict at the time. I would drink every day, I would drink alone. I thought that whole concept was so cool. Much of what I wrote in the song ‘Born To Die’ refers to those years, ’ she admitted.
