What is the Nordic diet?

The obsession with the Scandinavian style and way of life is growing every day, and it is not surprising that there is a great interest in their cuisine, especially among those who are looking for diets. In this regard, a diet plan called the Nordic diet has been at the forefront in recent years!

The Nordic diet is also called LCHF or a diet with a low percentage of carbohydrates and a high-fat content. The diet is based on protein and healthy fats, and less on carbohydrates. It is a healthy plant-based diet that focuses on the consumption of vegetables and whole grains, instead of refined, as well as organic, local foods with high protein content.

The Nordic diet is similar to the paleo diet, because it is based on healthy food and high-quality animal products, and places great emphasis on fish and seafood. Wild food normally contains more nutrients and is tastier than artificially grown food on farms. Wild and home-grown foods are usually tastier because they should be fresher or harvested at the peak of maturity when the nutritional value and taste of the product are greatest.

In addition, wild strawberries, which can be part of the Nordic diet, are often smaller, tastier, and richer in nutrients than large strawberries that are full of water, which you can find in the store. Other basic ingredients of the Nordic diet include oats, rye, vegetables, legumes, yogurt, and canola oil, as well as fatty fish such as salmon and mackerel. It is a diet that includes a lot of vegetables and very few carbohydrates, which speeds up the metabolism and which is adored by top models all over the world.

While on a Nordic diet, you can eat vegetables such as spinach, avocado, cucumber, tomato, paprika, cabbage, mushrooms, onions, broccoli, asparagus, pumpkin, eggplant, olives, lettuce, and all kinds of fish and meat. You can also eat nuts and seeds, eggs, and low-fat dairy products, and only water and unsweetened green tea are allowed.

What should be kept in mind is that the Nordic diet should not be kept for more than 13 days because it can disrupt the metabolism. However, while you are on it, you can eat whenever and however much you want, as long as you adhere to the mentioned list of allowed foods. This diet is not strict in terms of daily caloric intake, but with it, it’s possible to lose 26 pounds in two weeks, which largely explains its huge popularity, especially among supermodels.

Water is also very important during this diet, so you should drink two liters a day. Water helps remove toxins from the body, which speeds up the weight loss process. When it comes to nutrition, preference should be given to seasonal vegetables, which can be cooked or grilled, and what is especially important is not to add salt because it retains water in the body and raises blood pressure.

The health benefits of the Swedish diet are numerous - many studies show that it lowers blood pressure, improves heart health, and speeds up metabolism. Although this diet does not involve exercise, do not forget about moderate physical activity.
