Who turned his back to Hollywood?

Joshua Hartnett is an American actor and producer. He came to attention in 1997 because of his role as Michael Fitzgerald in the television crime drama series Cracker

'It’s best for my mental health to stay away from Hollywood,' Josh Hartnett, 43, told for Channel Seven Sunrise. He explained why he decided to retire from the public twenty years ago.

Remember, the handsome actor in the late '90s and early 2000's appeared in the lead roles of major movie blockbusters such as 'Pearl Harbor', 'The Fall of the Black Hawk' and '40 Days Without a Piece'. He dessapeared at the height of his fame. Now, he explained how he did it because he wanted to dedicate himself to peaceful family life.

- My view of Hollywood has always ranged between frustration and reluctant acceptance. After refusing to continue acting in high-profile film hits, I didn’t disappear from film production, as it seems to someone. I just kept away from Hollywood and bombastic headlines because I realized that this is not the way I want to live and work - claims the actor who points out that he has always tried to make films that are more than just fun.

For this reason, he spent the last two decades making independent, small films, producing and directing, as well as writing screenplays. That is a more peaceful life out of the reach of the covers and paparazzi. In the meantime, he and his wife Tamsin Egerton (32) had their third child at the end of 2019.

- I am proud to be the father of three children and to have a great relationship with my partner - says Hartnett, who does not regret rejecting the role of Superman

- I only regret that at the very beginning of my career, I refused to act in the film 'Brokeback Mountain', and the role intended for me was later played by Heath Ledger. If for nothing else, because I didn’t get a chance to kiss Jake Gyllenhaal, ”Hartnett said.
