Will Smith reveals that he contemplated killing his father for domestic abuse
Actor Will Smith will publish his memoir on November 9, and he has surprised the public several times with excerpts that have been published so far. Among other things, he wrote that he was thinking of killing his father because of domestic violence.
"When I was nine, I saw my father punch my mother in the side of the head so hard that she collapsed. I saw her spitting blood," the excerpt reads. "That moment in that bedroom, probably more than any other moment in my life, has defined who I am," Will Smith wrote.
The trauma affected his life and career.
"Within everything that I have done since then — the awards and accolades, the spotlights and attention, the characters and the laughs — there has been a subtle string of apologies to my mother for my inaction that day. For failing her in the moment. For failing to stand up to my father. For being a coward," he added.

Will's parents Willard Carroll Smith Sr. and Caroline Bright began living separately while the actor was a teenager, and they divorced in 2000. Will mentioned that childhood rage arose decades later as he cared for his father who had cancer.
"One night, as I delicately wheeled him from his bedroom toward the bathroom, a darkness arose within me. The path between the two rooms goes past the top of the stairs. As a child, I'd always told myself that I would one day avenge my mother. That when I was big enough, when I was strong enough, when I was no longer a coward, I would slay him." it was written in the excerpt.

He paused and thought that he would be able to "get away with it easily". However, he managed to banish the thought and helped him get to the bathroom.
