Kidman acknowledged that older actresses usually face rejections in Hollywood: "There's a consensus in the industry that as an actress, at about 40, you're done acting," she told Dujour.
Kidman said that as an actress, "you have to have patience and hell of a nerve" because the movie scene is mostly focused on young attractive actresses who make more experienced and older colleagues fall behind. "You're 39 years old, and that's it. It's kind of over for you," Kidman recalled to Today, according to People.
This mother of four often talks about aging, and she touched on the topic at the 2018 Acting Awards where she praised the film industry for increasingly accepting women over the age of 40.
"I want to thank you all for the top roles you have played throughout your career and how wonderful it is that our careers today can go on beyond the age of 40. We have proven, and we are proving day by day that we are powerful and strong," Kidman said in her motivational speech a few years ago, according to People.
