Romy Schneider is one of the world's best-known female actors. She was born in 1938 in Vienna and made her first film when she was only 15 years old. She was one of the most beautiful actresses, but her life was very turbulent and tragic.
During her career, Romy played numerous roles, but her private life attracted more attention from the media at the time. Her tumultuous relationship with three years older Alain Delon intrigued the public, although the actress often suffered because of that relationship.
Namely, their frequent quarrels culminated when Schneider found out that Delon had an affair with singer and actress Nico, who gave birth to his son. Because of that, Romy started drinking, a vice that will follow her to the very end.
After parting ways with Delon, Romy married German movie and theater actor Harry Mayen, who even divorced his wife of 13 years because of her. They soon became the parents of their son David Christopher, who, as her friends and acquaintances said, became the center of the world for the actress.
However, no one could have guessed the tragedy that would crash Romy's world. Her son David was tragically killed when he was only 15, and after that event, Schneider failed to overcome her black thoughts.
Namely, David forgot the keys, so he decided to climb over the old-fashioned spiked fence. He slipped and one spike pierced his femoral artery. He fell over the fence, so he was bleeding profusely crawling to the front door when his father heard him. Doctors fought for his life for hours but failed to save him.
Romy had a hard time coping with the loss of their son, so in the following years, she drowned her grief in alcohol. She passed away at the age of only 43 from a heart attack, and the media then reported that she died literally from a broken heart.
