The secret is finally revealed
Why Hollywood "killed off" Batman's girlfriend...
Releasing the film would harm all the people involved in the project.
According to DC studio head Peter Safran, the Batgirl film was canceled because it was not intended for release and would have injured everyone engaged in the project.
Safran stated that DC and its partners at Warner Bros. took the difficult but correct decision not to screen the already-produced superhero film.
- I watched a movie. There are so many incredibly talented people in front of and behind the camera. But the film was not for release. It happens sometimes - said Safran.
The picture, starring Leslie Grace, Brendan Fraser, and JK Simmons, was shelved six months ago due to bad test results, and the $90 million production was supposedly written off for tax reasons. Safran then took over as CEO of DC Studio.
- I really think that David Zaslav from Warner Bros. and his team made a very bold and courageous decision to cancel it because it would harm the studio and the people who were involved in this project - believes Safran.
According to him, "Batgirl" was made for the small screen and would not be able to compete with the big blockbusters.
Was Heath Ledger killed by the Joker?
His death was ruled an accident due to the incorrect combination of medicines he took. Although he left behind pictures that have awed generations, such as "The Dark Knight," "Brokeback Mountain," and "Casanova," the most talked about aspect of his life was his personal life and how he died.
He gave his undivided attention to every role he was preparing for. He attempted to differentiate each role. His transition into Batman's adversary The Joker was the ultimate transformation. The film was released after his death, and he received a posthumous Oscar for it, but many feel that the role killed him.
He claimed to have spent six weeks alone and trapped in a hotel to discover the essence of the character and the best method to convey it. Ledger told the press that he was terrified of the job, but that he wanted to make it unique.
"I sat completely alone for a month in a hotel and wrote a diary. It was important for me to find the right voice and laugh for the character. I really got a glimpse into the reality of a psychopath, someone who has no awareness of their actions. He is an absolute sociopath, a clown who is a cold-blooded mass murderer. It was a lot of fun because there are no limits to what the Joker can do or say," said the actor a few months before the premiere.
His journals were discovered a few years after his death. There were hundreds of clown paintings and comic book pages in there. Only the word "goodbye" remained at the end. The exact date of creation of these records is unknown. The hardest part, according to Ledger's father, was flipping through those pages.
The actor admitted to being stressed a few months before his death. That he has had a lot of difficulties sleeping since taking on the role of the Joker. He struggled with drugs and alcohol. He was discovered dead in his bed in New York in January 2008, with many sleeping tablets nearby.
His sisters, on the other hand, believe the Joker did not drive him away to death. Kate and Ashley Bell said they were taken aback when they saw stories linking Heath's death to the Joker.
"He wasn't depressed about the Joker, I think it was the complete opposite. The image was created that he was depressed and that it eventually took its toll. It was fun for him to play the Joker, we think the public is being deceived", they said in the documentary "I am Heath Ledger".
