Spices are not only beautiful when they leaf out, and some of them even bloom, but they will also be of great use to you in food preparation.

Imagine, it's summer, you've decided to cook fish and you're missing rosemary, for example. You walk from the kitchen to the terrace and you can pick it fresh, fragrant and best of all - exactly as much as you need. Who says we can't grow at least something of our own even if we don't have a large and spacious yard and garden? That is why we have prepared for you a list of our favorite spices that are very easy to grow in pots.

Basil

Almost everyone loves basil, and there's nothing better than picking a few fresh leaves and tossing them into your pasta bolognese or amatriciana. Also, you can buy this spice on every corner and different types, so the one you like can be the king of your garden on the terrace. It tolerates warm temperatures very well, but since the plant's roots are shallow, basil requires a relatively high amount of moisture.

Mint

According to some historical records, mint was used as a medicine a thousand years ago. It smells good on its own in a pot, and if your cold lemonade needs a little more flavor, or you want a good mojito - you have a plant ready on your terrace. Mint is a perennial plant with a strong smell, it grows wild as a weed, but it can also be grown in pots. Growing mint in the garden or in a pot is very easy, but it requires a lot of water and needs to be watered regularly.

Parsley

Parsley is not only an aromatic, decorative, spice plant that will improve the taste of food, but a medicinal and nutritious plant that is also known in natural medicine. Parsley tea is known to be great for the urinary tract and is also extremely tasty in soup or any other dish. So, feel free to plant saplings in a wide pot and enjoy the magical leaves of this plant throughout the summer, until late fall actually. Parsley does not require too much or special maintenance, but during high summer temperatures it is not a bad idea to water it in the morning and in the evening.

Rosemary

Besides being delicious, rosemary is recommended for people who have had a stroke or people who have memory problems, because it stimulates microcirculation in the brain. Certainly, we must not neglect that it looks great in a pot, like a small thuja, and when it blooms, its scent can be felt far away. It is important to know that it needs a lot of sun, but it will also tolerate some shade. It is a hardy plant and is more resistant to frost than other Mediterranean crops, but it still needs protection from the wind.
