Oliver Stone revealed a dark secret

Director, screenwriter, and producer Oliver Stone (75), in his rich career, won the Oscar for the best screenplay for the film "Midnight Express", wrote the successful remake of the crime classic "Scarface" and directed what many consider the best war film of all time, "Platoon" from 1986, which also won him several Academy Awards.

He has been in the world of film for almost half a century, and in addition to the aforementioned titles, he is also known for the famous films "Wall Street" (1987), "Born on the 4th of July" (1989), "JFK" (1991) and "Any Given Sunday". (1999).

Before he devoted himself to the seventh art, Oliver Stone led a very interesting life. At only 17 years old, he was trading on the Paris stock exchange, and a year later he left the university and worked as an English teacher in Saigon for six months.

He returned to Vietnam in 1967, this time as a soldier. He was awarded a large number of medals for his contribution to the American war effort and his bravery in the conflict between North and South Vietnam. However, the most shocking thing about his youth is that in his twenties he was, no less, no more than a drug dealer.

In a recently published interview with The Talks, when asked what was the most immoral thing he ever did, the famous director answered:

“When I was young and needed money, for a short time I sold drugs from an apartment in New York. It was a combination of substances that raise energy and those that cause a feeling of bliss. It was one of those drugs that people don't take that often, so I didn't make a lot of money” - admitted Stone and added:

You can't make money selling LSD, because people don't take it that much. You can with cocaine or heroin. So yes, I was an overly intellectual drug dealer, but I met some interesting people. Call it short-term employment.”

When asked why he chose to be a dealer, Stone said:

“In order to have enough money to survive and write at least two screenplays a year, in the hope that one of them will allow me to cross the threshold of Hollywood, I had to do anything and everything. I was driving a taxi and doing some other shit".
