Joycelyn Savage revealed the details in the letter that shocked her parents the most
American singer R. Kelly (55), who was sentenced to 30 years in prison for sexual assault, and Joycelyn Savage (26), one of his alleged victims, are engaged. This is evident from court documents obtained by The New York Post. Joycelyn called herself Robert's fiancee in a letter she sent to a federal judge, asking that Kelly receive a lighter sentence for years of sexually abusing women and underage girls and boys.
“I am writing this letter in support of Robert before the sentencing and I want to explain to the court that I am not the victim that they presented me as. R. Kelly is an amazing person, not a monster. We are very much in love and my heart is breaking because of this fictional story in which I am the victim. I am a grown woman and I can speak for myself, that's why I wanted the court to receive this letter. Robert is a great man, he has a big heart and he deserves to be at home with his loved ones who are ready to support him," she wrote.
Her parents publicly begged their daughter to leave the musician. Their lawyer, Gerald Griggs, told TMZ that they were not aware of the planned marriage because Joycelyn had never mentioned marrying Kelly before. “The parents suspect that the couple is engaged and desperately want to contact their daughter again to hear the whole story. But they haven't spoken to her since she went to live with the singer. It is strange to them that she wrote a letter to the judge, instead of testifying under oath” - said the lawyer.

Last September, singer R. Kelly was indicted in federal court for crimes involving racketeering and human trafficking. He is now sentenced to 30 years in prison. Recall - the singer-songwriter was found guilty on charges of racketeering and eight counts of violating Mann's law, which prohibits the transport of "any woman or girl" across state borders for any "immoral purpose."
