Pasta is a favorite “comfort food” for many of us. But if you’re looking for healthier pasta substitutes or just want to try something new, you’re in the right place! Below you can find healthy foods that are a great substitute for pasta.
Vegetables, in addition to being full of antioxidants, vitamins and fiber, can also serve as "pasta" if you form them into spiral shapes. Cereals like quinoa and millet (bonus: gluten-free!) usually contain more fiber than regular pasta and can also be a tasty and healthy substitute for pasta.
Zucchini
Zucchini is a great substitute for pasta, especially spaghetti. All you have to do is cut the zucchini into thin slices and then each slice into strips (thicker or thinner). Zucchini spaghetti can be cooked separately (cooked for about two minutes), and you can also cook it in tomato or cheese sauce. Zucchini spaghetti goes well with sesame and chili, lemon, butter and herbs.
Sweet potatoes
Vegetables rich in starch like sweet potatoes or butternut squash can also be a great substitute for spaghetti (the making process is the same as with zucchini). Also, you can roughly chop the sweet potato and then mix it in a blender to the size of a pea. Then sauté the sweet potato pieces with the cheese sauce and you will get a great, healthy meal.
Eggplants
Eggplant is delicious food that can replace lasagna dough. Wash the aubergines and cut them into slices, then place them on a baking sheet, salt and pour a little olive oil and bake in the oven for about 10 minutes at 220 degrees. Once baked, you can use the eggplants in the same way as the classic lasagna dough.

Cycle
Beetroot, baked or steamed is a great substitute for pasta. For example, sliced beets, topped with olive oil and goat cheese or mozzarella become an excellent substitute for ravioli.
Cereals (eg quinoa, millet, barley)
Cereals are also a great alternative to pasta. All you have to do is cook the quinoa according to the instructions on the package and serve it with tomato sauce or bolognese sauce that you can enrich with mushrooms. Quinoa and millet contain a lot of protein and are easily digested.
