If we want to renew our energy, then it is not enough just to get a good night's sleep. It is true that after a good night's sleep we feel refreshed and rested, but how much energy we will have depends mostly on the food we eat. The correct choice of food has a great impact on our overall health, and therefore meals should not be skipped or placed last in daily tasks. Instead of unhealthy and quick solutions, opt for foods that provide a natural boost. It is the simplest, most effective, and healthiest way to get energy from the right sources!

  1. Healthy fats — nuts are the best choice
    They contain a lot of protein, vitamins, and minerals, as well as good fats, so they are great for boosting energy. Almond contains minerals such as magnesium and calcium that release energy. Walnuts are rich in potassium, zinc, and iron, which also releases energy, while peanuts are a good source of vitamin B6, which helps the body use and store energy from protein and carbohydrates obtained from food. Whichever nuts you choose, do not overdo it, nuts contain a high concentration of fat and are very caloric — a handful or two tablespoons is the ideal portion a day.

 

  1. Healthy carbohydrates — grains and fruits
    Whole grains are also key when it comes to energy – replace white rice, bread, and pasta with whole grain versions and the energy they contain will be released gradually. Refined carbohydrates contain very little plant fiber and are processed, while unrefined carbohydrates are rich in plant fiber. This slows down the rate at which sugar from carbohydrates is released so that there is no sudden spike and then a sudden drop in blood sugar levels. Plant fiber also expands in your stomach, making you feel fuller for longer. Wholemeal rice and wholemeal bread are a good sources of carbohydrates and pantothenic acid (better known as vitamin B5), which help the body get energy.

    Legumes release energy gradually and are full of plant fibers that slow down digestion, thus maintaining a stable source of energy. Beans and lentils contain iron, which is important for the production of red blood cells, which carry oxygen throughout the body, contributing to the reduction of fatigue. These foods can be prepared in various ways so that we never get bored, and they also make us feel full.

 

  1. Drink smart — water is best
    The best drink to boost energy is water! Whatever it says on energy drinks, they are by no means a good choice, as they won't do much for your energy. They are full of sugar and caffeine that will really boost your energy level, but only for a short time and soon you will feel tired again. Although they may appear to boost energy, these drinks do quite the opposite. As soon as the caffeine wears off, you will have even less energy than before.
    On the other hand, for your complete revitalization, water is the best. It will remove toxins from your body, speed up your metabolism and naturally increase your energy level. If you drink water regularly, you will not be dehydrated, which automatically positively affects your energy level.

    If you were told, "eat green vegetables, it's healthy", know that they were right!
    Broccoli, spinach, and brussels sprouts contain a smaller but useful amount of iron, which contributes to reducing the feeling of fatigue and helps to release energy from food. Indian sweet potatoes are also a great choice because they are rich in energy-giving carbohydrates, as well as vitamin C, which plays a role in releasing energy from food, and vitamin A, which maintains skin and vision. Always opt for the least processed version of the food, the one with the shortest list of ingredients. Let the food on your table be as natural and fresh as possible. When it comes to pasta and bread, replace them with whole grain versions. Foods that are closest to their natural state will give you much calmer, longer lasting, and better quality energy.
